I like lobster, I like chocolate biscuits

Talking about personal preference and tastes, a 'superficial fancy' or 'yearning love'.. and the afterthoughts and implications.

We use very complex systems to decide we enjoy something, i.e. 'my favorite films are, Scary Movie 3, and Eyes Wide Shut'. They could both be enjoyed in equal measure or better yet; held at a similar value by myself (though simultaneously on different terms) as they are vastly different items and occur separately.

If we take that in to consideration should it not be more difficult, or from angles impossible, to find true and accurate relations and/or companionship?

I have always encouraged myself and been told by family and close friends (an ethic we share) to be true to ourselves. If we all followed this ethic astutely we would still share common interests, opinions and appreciate similarly. This would still be fathomable and indeed, highly achievable.
However, could it be that in general we do not define or express our opinions and emotions clearly enough, or with enough vigor? But instead, to a degree, settle on 'suitable company', measured only by our patience or energy at that time? Our passive inter-social determination to find a counter point of character within those around us.

I believe that we should be encouraged to be far more selective with our views and viewpoints and hold them up more honestly and rigorously and encourage our (as humans) natural inquisitive nature, to 'Discover' and 'Define'.
It seems (and I summarize) that perhaps due to overpopulation choking our growth space, or some kind of 'umbrella of fear' cast over England and the UK (this being my country of residence I believe if I am to comment on any, it should be here) by the media, either to do with some new terrorist plot, some tragic family story or the ongoing 'credit crunch' I and many others wake up to every morning (pun intended) that we are churning out a nation of farm yard animals. Trundling into the open space available, with little thought outside of mating with their neighbor they feed on the grass in front of them. This truly saddens me.

This netting of accidental ignorance that many are conditioned into flocking toward, effects people everywhere. And it is the contrast between those who seem determined to strive out of their comfort zone, not settling for a stagnant frame of mind and those who show no cultural ambition at all which unnerves me so much.

'The rich get richer and the poor get poorer.'

That phrase is quoted a lot when people talk about society and standards of living. However the intimidating aspect of the gap mentioned, does not lie for me in the share of financial wealth but in the demographic of social and cultural consciousness and awareness within the population. With such vast oceans separating both our communities and Nation it feels to me that it is all to easy to get caught up in murky waters and drown. It is now a fight for enlightenment.
